Mayfield-Primary-School

Key Workers

The Government has asked schools to continue to provide care for a limited number of children - children who are vulnerable and children whose parents are critical to the Covid-19 response and cannot be safely cared for at home.  The fewer children making the journey to school, and the fewer children in educational settings, the lower the risk that the virus can spread and infect vulnerable individuals in wider society.  If children can stay safely at home, they should, to limit the chance of the virus spreading.

Please click here to find the Government definition of key workers.

If you are a sole parent and a key worker or if you co-parent and both parents are key workers and have no alternative arrangements for childcare whilst you are working school can provide childcare for you but it is essential that we know that your child is coming to school so that we can ensure adequate arrangements.

Due to a high level of demand and a high degree of staff absence we can only offer childcare for children whilst parents are working during school hours.  If you are a part-time worker or can work from home you need to adhere to the Government's key principle that if at all possible children should be at home. (see above link to the guidance) and ONLY send your children to school when you are working.

Please email the office using the link below your working patterns for the coming week if you are sending your children to school because your role is critical to the Covid-19  response.
