Bumper crops!

This is a truly Mayfield community story!

A couple of years ago some staff and friend volunteers came to school on a Saturday and built our raised beds.

Our friends at the High Lane Allotments helped us plan the beds and provided us with some seedlings.

We applied for some funding to buy a food waste composter and our pupil Eco-Club led by Ms Sibuns have worked with Mr Bruno and the kitchen team to compost lots of our food waste to create our own compost which we use to help nourish the seedlings.

Lots of children from all different years enjoy watering and weeding our raised beds at playtime with endless help and encouragement from Mrs Ewart and Mr Bruno!

The result is lots of fresh veg and herbs and our wonderful cook, Ms Rasheeba, has been adding them to recipes in the kitchen for lunch!
